Planting Plants for the Winter
Yup, that's right. Here's a few details and a few questions:
1st grade – Planting hundreds of garlic bulbs in the garden. Why plant bulbs in Nov?
3rd grade – Planting runner beans in the greenhouse. How does a flower turn into a bean?
4th grade – Harvesting and planting veggies in the hoophouse for the Wed/Thur market. What edible plants grow in the hoophouse in the winter? How is that possible?
8th grade – Planning, purchasing, planting flowers for their own designed bouquets. What to buy that will grow in a greenhouse in the winter? When to plant so that flowers will mature at the same time? What is the cost of the whole process? Shall we make a profit?
An Invitation

If you need to "see a little green" and "feel a little light" and "smell a little earth" this winter come spend some time wandering through the hoophouse and greenhouse at school.
Nov & Dec Art

All the kids have or will be working on a nature art project. Christmas wreaths, cedar slab/name boards, wildflower art and wildlife Christmas ornaments.

Chicken Eggs

Moonlight, Joy & Beau
Our beloved goats, continue to produce almost a gallon of milk a day per goat. Wow! Fifth graders have done marvelous work in helping out and learning a lot from our goats - animal care, anatomy and life cycle. Our girls will soon be on a "vacation" to see Firefox...more "kids" will be coming in May.
