ACS is seeking an Inclusion Aide

Ada Christian School is seeking a qualified individual with a love for the Lord and a desire to work with children with special needs in a classroom setting.

All of our aides walk alongside our faculty in equipping students for service in God’s world. They are a constant source of support and encouragement to teachers, students and parents. An aide  provides specific support for students with autism or down syndrome, helping him/her achieve active participation in a general education classroom setting. This can involve work within the classroom as well as additional academic support outside of the classroom.

This is an hourly position.

Reports to: Director of Inclusion, Classroom Teacher(s) and Principal

Qualifications:

Education/Experience

• Completion of High School
• Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited institution and/or related experience working in a child-centered educational setting preferred
• Participate in professional development opportunities related to position

Responsibilities:

• Executes instructional activities with individual students or small groups of students following teacher direction and demonstration
• Assists in preparation of materials for classroom activities and assignments
• Serves as a source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher

Hours:

Three days each week, 8:00am-3:00pm

Evaluation:

Performance is reviewed periodically.
