Thank you for completing this 2019-2020 school year faith strong! It was so uplifting to see you at our Drive Bye. We miss you and look forward to seeing you in the fall.
Fall Reopening Initiative
The goal of Ada Christian School is to reopen our school building for teacher/student face-to-face instruction as scheduled on August 25 responsibly with as few restrictions as possible centered on students’ best interests.
Principal Brower is assembling a task force that will:
- Review federal, state, and local data and guidelines
- Explore ideas, centered on students’ best interests
- Make recommendations for administration to present to School Board
Principal Brower will share information with our families as information and decisions become available.
Please continue praying for wisdom for our administration, Board, faculty, and staff as we make plans and look forward to being together again soon!
Now You Know
We are doing our best to send report cards home by mail at the end of this week for grades K-3. Report cards for grades 4-8 will be sent to parents’ email addresses on Friday.
Since we ended school two weeks sooner than originally planned and due to delays, our yearbooks have not been delivered to ACS, yet. We will contact you when they arrive and set a couple days and times for you to pick them up. If you are unable to come to school to get them, we will make arrangements so your children have them. Thanks for understanding.

A few of our 8th grade students invite you to “Be our Guest”!
ACS will be hosting several of our summer camps. What you should know:
- Some dates have been changed.
- We are capping the number of students based on spaces and the number of leaders for that camp.
- Students will social distance as much as possible.
- Students will be encouraged to practice good hygiene.
- Parents are asked to take students’ temperatures each day before camp. Students MUST be fever free for a minimum of 24 hours to attend a camp.
- Any students with symptoms of illness, may not attend the camp while symptoms persist.
- Camp leaders will have more specific information for you.
Used Laptops Available
Ada Christian School is selling used 2015 11inch MacBook Air laptops.

Some parents have asked about Summer Reading Clubs. The following information has been gathered from bookstores and publishers. Please take a close look at what each has to offer to see if your family would be interested in the content.

Books-A-Million (closest store is in Traverse City)
KDL Library Books
Several families returned KDL books to the ACS library. Mrs. Prins will be keeping them and will return them to KDL once it opens back up.
Butter Braid Funds
In lieu of using money raised for their class trip the 8th grade's Butter Braid funds will be used for two legacy projects: a tree on campus planted in honor of the class of 2020 and continued support of our Compassion children.

Owls Update: 67 of the 100 owls have been found but the most of the hard to find (and big point owls) are still out there

FIRST LEGO League
You’ll love FIRST® LEGO® League! The League is made of up to 10 kids that research a real-world problem (like food safety, recycling, energy, etc.). The team will be challenged to develop a solution using new knowledge and creative imagination. The team will also design, build, and program a working robot using a LEGO MINDSTORMS® kit, then complete “missions” on a table-top playing field. Teams compete against each other at exciting events where members will make new friends, show off what they have learned and invented, express team spirit, and celebrate! Sound like fun? What are you waiting for? Apply to join the ACS FIRST® LEGO® League today!

Applicants: Students in grades 4-8 (Minimum 8 and maximum 10 students)
When: Mondays & Thursdays from September-December
(may also include weekend regional competition dates TBA)
Where: Ada Christian School Media Center / Computer Lab
Fee: $300 The fee includes FIRST® LEGO® League competition application fee, t-shirts, snacks, supplies and coach stipend. All travel expenses related to competition (regional, state or world) are separate. Payment will be returned if team limit has been reached. Contact Ms. Frens (jfrens@adachristian) if fee is a barrier to participation.
ACS FIRST® LEGO® League: Please complete this application by Thursday, May 28. Cash App, PayPal and Venmo accepted for the $300 fee. Club limited to 10 participants. If more than 10 applications received, applicants will be selected based on various considerations as participation requires commitment and persistence.
*We anticipate meeting in person, but will keep you posted on the schedule as the future unfolds.
Fall Soccer sign-ups are open!
At ACS we will be proceeding as normal with the fall registration process. This will help us plan teams and acquire coaches accordingly. However, you will notice that instead of collecting fees during registration, we will collect team fees the first week of practice with your son/daughters MHSAA Physical and Consent form.

5th-8th Girls Volleyball - Team Fee $50

*All Team fees to be collected first week of practice
