Zac Wanner

I have a passion for the visual arts and this passion is a great gift from the original Artist and Creator – God. In my work as a visual arts teacher, all that I practice and teach to my students centers around the truth of the scriptures and that God was the first and most amazing artist who has given each of us some gift of creativity. It is my desire to show and to share with my students the creative works of God that are all around us. As a result, as we explore and learn through the various methods of art creation (ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed-media, etc.), I hope students will begin to see that the visual arts convey the truth of life and God’s world by exercising their creativity. Finally, it is my goal that the lessons and projects I prepare and teach to the students will encourage them to explore and find the areas of art that resonate with their unique abilities which ultimately could be used to further the kingdom of God.

I am a graduate of Unity Christian High School and Calvin College with a B.A. degree in Art Education and a M.ED. in education. I have taught the visual arts since 2004 and started at ACS in the fall of 2006.

I am married to Leslie Wanner and we live in Grand Rapids. We have a two sons and a Boston Terrier. My wife and I are artsy people enjoying any art related activity from visiting museums and art workshops, to home remodeling and landscaping. We also both enjoy the outdoors and nature.
