I absolutely love teaching Kindergarten. As a new group of kids come to me each year, I hope to help them understand that they are unconditionally loved…not only by me but most importantly by God the Father. I feel very blessed to be able to share God’s love with them on a daily basis through my actions, words, experiences and enthusiasm. My hope is that they see Jesus in me. One of my class themes is “No matter what happens, this will be true… forever and always...Jesus loves you!” My faith is nurtured each day by working with my incredible colleagues, teaching the kids, and reflecting on my blessings.

While attending Calvin College I was blessed to be a part of ACS during my teacher aiding and student teaching experiences. I graduated from Calvin in '86 and have been a part of the ACS family ever since. I taught 3rd grade my first 3 years and have now thoroughly enjoyed Kindergarten for much of my career. I have been trained by Gesell Institute to screen incoming Kindergartners. I am currently the treasurer of Faculty Finances, a member of the Language Arts Committee and the Health Wellness Ambassador at ACS on behalf of Priority Health.

I teach the Progressive Kindergarten section which adds days to the weekly schedule as the year progresses:

  • 1st trimester – 3 days/week (Tue, Thur, Fri)
  • 2nd trimester –  4 days/week (Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri)
  • 3rd trimester – 5 days/week (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur, Fri)
