April Hoeksema

I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home and learned more about God as I grew up through my parents, church, and Christian schools. Today, I spend time in the Bible daily and I learn more each day about the kind of person God wants me to be. I am thankful that I have God to trust and to lead me in the decisions. I work hard to be still and listen for his guidance. I remind my students of the importance of spending time with God and trusting him to lead and guide them.

One of my favorite parts of working in faith-based education is showing the students how God shines in every aspect of our curriculum and in our world. It is important for the students to see that God is the foundation of everything we learn.

I graduated from Calvin College in 2007 with a B.A. in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood Development. After I graduated I spent thirteen years working for Grand Rapids Christian Schools. Nine of those years I spent working as an Educational Support Interventionist. I then spent two years as a kindergarten teacher and two years as a first grade teacher.

My husband, Mike, and I enjoy spending time with family and friends. We attend Ada Bible Church and are involved in a small group there. We enjoy spending time hiking, biking, kayaking, playing games, and reading.
