Children are a precious gift from God and are his image bearers. I believe that each child has a plan and a purpose as future kingdom workers. It is a privilege to encourage and nurture children in their faith. As I teach the first graders, I am intentional in bringing God into every subject area. First grade is a big year in a child’s life. My goal is to expose, excite, and challenge children as they begin their journey in their education.

I graduated from Calvin College in 1996 with a B.A. degree in elementary education. My emphasis was on language arts and social studies. I was a substitute teacher for a year and a half before God blessed me with my position at Ada Christian as a first grade teacher. I joined the ACS family in the fall of 1998 and have been here ever since.

My husband, Kirk, and I have one son who went through Ada Christian. It was a blessing to be able to see him learning here and to know that his faith was being nurtured in this place. As he moved into high school and beyond, it was a blessing to have the faith foundation that Ada Christian had such a big part in. We attend Ada Bible church. We enjoy traveling, working on our ancient home, and just spending time together reading.
