As a Christian educator I believe fervently that each student has an intrinsic worth that comes from being handcrafted in the image of our Lord and Savior. I believe that each student, because of this worth, has a voice that deserves to be heard. I strive to hear the voices of my students, to listen, and to guide them along the paths that God has placed before them. As a science teacher and lover of the outdoors, I am continually in awe of the natural world, and seek to bring this same awe into every lesson I teach. As a father, I am continually reminded, through the eyes of my daughter, of the beauty of everyday life and the joy of discovering the workings of the world. As an athlete and rock climber, I recognize the worship that is inherent in movement and endeavor to incorporate this truth into my teaching style. As a previous camp counselor, I believe in the power of integrating fun, faith, and learning, and aim to fill every student interaction with these elements.

I graduated from Calvin University with my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and Integrated Science. In 2024 I graduated from Michigan State University with my Master of Arts in Teaching and Curriculum. I have taught Masters and Undergraduate level Science Education Methods courses at both Michigan State University and Calvin University. Additionally, I mentored student teachers as they navigated their first year in elementary classroom settings in Kentwood, Lansing, and Grand Ledge. Prior to my time teaching at the collegiate level and working with student teachers, I was a middle school math, science, and STEM teacher in Coopersville Michigan.

My wife, my daughter, and I currently attend Mars Hill Bible Church. We enjoy long walks with our dog anywhere where we can immerse ourselves in God’s incredible creation. We love camping, traveling, biking, and gardening. I enjoy rock climbing, competing in the occasional triathlon, photography, and spending as much time as I can outside.
