Someone once said, “Teachers are like gardeners—planting seeds of discovery, cultivating curiosity, and nurturing the joy of learning.” That is why I teach! I believe that God created every child in his image and with unique gifts and talents. My job as a teacher is to assist in unwrapping children’s gifts and help them grow in their understanding of the creative power of God the Father, the redemptive work of Christ the Son, and the renewing and sustaining work of the Holy Spirit. Through my example, enthusiasm, and creativity, I hope to inspire my students to be lifelong learners, equip them to be good decision-makers, and empower them for a life of service to God and others. In a comfortable, caring, inviting, and challenging classroom environment that accommodates for individual differences, I desire to help students grow and develop—emotionally, physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. As a Christian educator, I will plant the love of learning, nurture God’s precious children in their spiritual walk, and watch them blossom into all that God meant them to be.

I have been a life-long resident of the Grand Rapids area where I was raised in a family of educators and attended Christian schools. I graduated from Calvin College in May 2001 where I studied elementary education, language arts, and Spanish. After college, I taught fourth grade for two years at Zeeland Christian School. Currently, I teach 6th grade language arts at Ada Christian School. I am working towards a Masters Degree at Grand Valley State University.

I am married to a wonderful husband and have three fun and energetic children. I attend a Reformed church in Grand Rapids where I am involved in the children’s ministry. I enjoy camping, shopping, playing games, sports, and traveling.
