John Davis

I was blessed to be born into a Christian family where I came to know Jesus as my Savior at a young age in the Detroit area. My dad died while I was in college, and I found myself
questioning my career choice (mechanical engineering). I felt God’s call to love and serve kids, which led to 36 years in Christian education.

While teaching at my first Christian school, I fell in love with my beautiful wife, Gaylene. We
have been married for 33 years, and our married sons have turned 28 (Dwight) and 30 (Woody). They live in Madison, WI and Brooklyn, NY, respectively.

I have had the privilege of serving the Lord as a Head of School at four different schools in
Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. I’ve seen God do great things as Christian educators rallied
around a plan to pursue excellence for Christ’s sake. Please pray with me as we work together
to create greater mission success at ACS this year.
In my spare time, I love to read. With a long commute between GR and my home in Milwaukee, I’ll be listening to a lot of fiction and nonfiction books. I have remained loyal to my hometown teams, so I look forward to cheering for the Tigers, Lions, and Wolverines this year. I serve on my church board, and my wife and I cohost a young couple's small group in our home. We enjoy taking long walks and exploring new places.
