Transformative teaching to me doesn’t just teach a concept, it teaches the whole child.
A lot of it has to do with not only teachers asking questions but students asking questions as well.
That's probably my favorite thing about teaching is posing a question and having kids kind of wrestle with that and how that leads to new questions.
I would put it back on the teachers. And these teachers are grounded. I don't think they look at it as a job. They look at it as a journey into your children's lives.
Even as a teacher, it's obvious how dedicated the staff is to nurturing students to partnering with parents to helping kids understand what it means to follow Jesus.
In geography, one of my main goals with my students is to help them understand that the world is a much bigger than themselves. This world is a diverse, large, wonderful place.
You know, they talk about the mind, the body, the soul, in a Christian community. That's really what we see day in and day out. It's rigorous academics but then you think about the soul piece of it which is so important to us.
Some of my students have gone on and become music teachers. We've had students get scholarships to college. We have one students getting his PHD at Indian University in piano performance and jazz piano.
They are very, very thoughtful and deliberate about the kinds of technology used at different levels. It's all designed for teacher and student interaction.
There's so much you can do with technology but it's so much more than putting a computer in a classroom. We don't want students just using computers, we want them learning to think.
In bringing Alex here, they welcomed him right away which was amazing for us. And it gave us a sense of comfort. The inclusion program here has been phenomenal to the point to where now my son can take tests in with his class.
My goal is the relationship and the joy and the journey together. Every student has their own story, their own journey.
You just saw the love and the nurturing even in the first few minutes. I mean, you just noticed a difference. Everything was just so full of life. And you thought there's a difference here, there's a different element. It wasn't just education. It was like teaching about life.
Anybody that is looking for an education where teachers and staff and kids are willing to help you, because every child is different.
