Parents are encouraged to attend and hear their student when they play - note the location for your student on the schedule. If you cannot come on Nov 08, please listen to your student play at least 3 times over the weekend and prior to the event!!

  • Students need good reeds and oils and etc! Super important.
  • Students should wear black and white on Nov. 08.
  • This is a big assignment, and they can do a GREAT job.
  • Note who your student’s accompanist is. It would be great to send a thank you note to your accompanist - (unless it is Mrs. VN - you don’t have to do me. :)) Mrs. Anderson is an ACS Mom, Mrs. Ondersma is a grandma from ACS, Mrs. Miller is a good friend of ACS and her kids played in the band when they were here. We are so thankful for the great work your students are doing and for our accompanists!
  • Go BAND!

Bible (Huttenga): 7th graders are working on a project rooted in Thankfulness/Gratitude for Thanksgiving. Because some of the students would like the finished product to be a surprise for their recipients, the most that can be disclosed is that it involves reflect and lots of writing.

History: We are making good progress in our study of South Asia. This coming Tuesday we will take a map quiz on the names of countries in Asia. We have been practicing in class and students have a link on moodle to help practice. We will take a unit test on South Asia in the following week.

Students have access to the review guide on Moodle and understand that the quiz itself will be on Moodle as well. In the meantime, we’ve also spent a bit learning about the American colonies during the late 17th century - specifically, the Salem Witch Trials. This is to help us better understand the setting and political/religious implications of our first class novel study of The Witch of Blackbird Pond, by Elizabeth George Speare.

Orchestra: Solo and Ensemble Festival is Thursday, Nov 8 here at school! Schedules and times were sent home with all 7th graders.  All will perform in the orchestra room and parents are invited to come and hear their string player perform! They are sounding fantastic!
