Report Cards come home Wednesday, Mar 09 for all MS students.
Dessert Theatre - Tickets are available online this year for Dessert Theatre. Please consider joining us on either Mar 17 or 18 for dessert and the 8th Grade Musical: High School Musical, Jr. Please order your tickets soon! We are so excited to share our show with you!
Hot Lunch: The hot lunch from Tues, Mar 01 will be served next week Friday, Mar 11. The window to order hot lunch for April is open until Mar 10. Order soon!
Art: In art we are completing our Seurat inspired artwork and will transition to a project inspired by female artist Georgia O’Keefe.
Band: Yikes! Snow days! Band has happened only twice in two weeks! Feb Practice Records are due now - - as soon as possible.
Bible: Gospel Theater schedule for next week: Thursday 11:30am-12:15pm, Friday 11:15am-12:00pm. All parents are invited (it’s in the Commons)! We will also be performing for the Middle School during their chapel time Wednesday morning from 8:10-8:43am.
Language Arts: We are finishing our Literary Essays this week and starting to learn about subjects and predicates.
Math: Next week Wednesday will be our final fractions test - adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers. We will be reviewing on Monday and Tuesday. If your 5th grader could use some extra practice over the weekend, a good review would be on ixl.com: Level G: L.11, M.14, and N.11. After fractions comes geometry - a complete 180 from what we have been doing!
Orchestra: I MISS my 5th grade string players. Hopefully all instruments are staying somewhat in tune. Be sure to review our last 2 pages in both books as well as Simple Square Dance and First Scale March. We will have new sheet music soon!
Science: The Foss Kit (hands on science) is underway with Mixtures and Solutions! Tech Olympics coming before Spring Break, keep working on those projects!
Social Studies: We are learning about Latin America.
Spanish: We are exploring some cultural aspects of Spain and how other cultures infiltrate one another.
STEP: Continuing to work on problem solving with different word and math activities. Activities sheets that went home today will be due next week.
Art: In class we continue to work on the torn watercolor landscape project. Students must be done painting their experiments by the beginning of the next art class. Please check the homework calendar for due dates and homework.
Band: Quiz coming up next week. Wow, can they play! Wait until you hear what we are working on!
Bible: 10 Commandments # 1-7 due on Wednesday. Continuing our study of the life of Abraham.
History: Greek Olympic Games continue this week with a few more events. Final test on Ancient Greece on Thursday.
Language Arts: Research, research, research. We are learning so much about our World Fair country! Research packets need to be completed by TUESDAY, Mar 08! Then, we will review the important elements of a good paragraph and begin writing newspaper articles about our country.
Math: Our Ch 8 Test on Functions and Inequalities will be on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday students will work on graphs for World Fair.
Orchestra: Focus on Ode to Joy-(pop-playing quiz in class). Intonation in Treasure Quest! Be sure to keep instruments in a warm humid place!
Science: We will begin a study of weather in the coming week.
Spanish: 6th Graders have a TEST next week: 6K on Monday, 6D on Tuesday. This will cover hair color, length, texture, as well as making comparisons. More details can be found by clicking on the Moodle calendar assignment.
Art: In class the 7th grade has begun thinking through how to visually represent 3 areas of their lives - Faith, Family, and Self. The 7th grade will be working on this project for the next couple of weeks. Please check the homework calendar for due dates and homework.
Band: Dessert Theatre Music continues - very fun to hear!
Bible: We will continue our study of prayer.
Language Arts: On Monday, March 7, the 7th graders will turn in the draft of their outlines. As they await feedback, we will use our class time to continue research and learn about thesis statements.
Pre-Algebra (Kiser): Our Ch 8 Test on Equations and Inequalities will be on Tuesday. Students have a practice test due on Monday.
Orchestra: Dessert Theatre Music-putting on finishing touches so bring all music every orchestra day!
Spanish: We are moving on to regular -ER and -IR ending verbs now!
NorthPointe Christian: NorthPointe Christian’s High School Information Night that was scheduled for Tuesday, Mar 01 has been rescheduled, due to weather, for Tuesday, Mar 08 at 7:00pm. Algebra (8th): We are going to shoot for a Friday Test on Ch 7 test on Systems of Equations.
Art: The 8th grade continues to work on their ceramic pots. The 8th graders should be thinking about what they are going to add to the lids of their pots and what texture they will be adding to their ceramic pots, ask your student what they are thinking about doing. Please check the homework calendar for due dates and homework.
Band: Scales, and then, more scales. Soon we will have a scale contest...they are doing great on these.
Bible: Continuing our look at the last week of Christ’s life on earth. We will look at some of His activities in the temple and the Last Supper this week. Continue working on the March Bible memory (Romans 12: 1-2).
Language Arts: We will be studying the theatrical adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank by Goodrich and Hackett. Before beginning the play, students will be getting some background information regarding the Holocaust. We will be discussing big topics such as finding hope through Christ in a seemingly hopeless world where people are killed because of key aspects of their identity. What does this mean for us as Christians?
Orchestra: 16th and 32nd notes are coming along! Focus on the most difficult sections in Blue Fire and Pachelbel. Also Deep Deep Love. Keep your instruments in a humid and warm spot -always!
Science: We’ve completed our Planetary Science unit and will begin studying rocks, minerals, and geologic processes.
