Mystery week announcements - Next week, while the 6th-8th graders participate in “Explore” classes, the fifth graders will have a theme week in which they will have the opportunity to UNCOVER some MYSTERIES in each of their classes as well as DISCOVER their IDENTITY in CHRIST. Students should bring their usual materials to school including their binder, iPad, and outdoor clothing.

5th Bible: This week in Bible we learned about Lent. Students picked a goal for Lent that they will complete daily starting Mar 02. Please check with your child to make sure that their goal is achievable (keep in mind, Spring Break makes up one week of Lent). The Beatitudes are due Fri, Mar 04.

6th-8th Grade

Babysitting Certification: Next week you will be working with Instructor Jamie to earn your Babysitting Certificate. Please come to class with your binder and computer or iPad on Monday. Your instructor will then let you know if you need these the whole week or not.

Bible Journaling: Students should bring their iPad, Bible, and a special notebook to journal in. If they would like to create illustrations directly in their Bible, make sure the Bible they use is one where they are willing to cover the pages (preferably with journaling margins - examples here). Scrapbook/art supplies are encouraged (scrapbook paper, pens, washi tape, colored pencils, watercolors, stickers, stencils, double-sided tape, etc). Basic supplies will be provided

Bread Baking: Meet in the main lobby at 10:35 before boarding the bus.

Bullet Journaling: Please bring a bullet Journal, your Ipad, and any colored pens you have. If you have any questions about supplies feel free to send an email with questions.

Bushcraft/Wilderness Skills: We’ll be exploring a number of outdoor skills outside so be prepared for the elements no matter what they are.  There is no bad weather, just bad clothing.  Dress appropriately.

But Will it Burn?: Be sure to be wearing closed toe shoes and get pumped.

Embroidery: Please come prepared with an item which you would like to embroider. Some ideas include a tshirt or other article of clothing, a bag, a decorative pillow case, etc. You won’t need your item for the first day, but you will need it towards the end of the week. Also bring along your iPad to research embroidery designs.

Family Tree: Please come to class with any knowledge of who is in your family tree. Feel free to ask around and get some information before coming to class.

Outdoor Cooking: Please bring 2 empty soup cans,1 empty pop can and your iPad to the first day of Outdoor Cooking. We will be meeting in the OE room.

Paint, Paint, Paint: You might have guessed this, but come to this activity with some old clothes and shoes on in case you spill a little paint on yourself. Be warned, the likeliness of this happening is quite high.

Retro Games & Speedrunning: If you have a SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Switch, their respective controllers and copies of the game Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, or Super Mario Odyssey, please email Mr. Huttenga. This is the nerdiest thing I’ve ever written in a school document.

Schoolhouse Rock, LIVE Jr : Bring your script each day. Bring your ipad the first day for sure (Tuesday). Have your personal labeled costume bag with handles at school by Feb 23.

Scrapbooking: Please bring printed photos (the more the better) and purchase an acid-free photo album, acid-free double sided tape (2+), and acid-free scrapbook paper. Some supplies will be provided, but bring some of your own supplies (pens, washi tape, stickers, stencils, etc) to bring your own flare.

Self Defense: Please come to class wearing athletic type clothing and please bring a water bottle.

Tabletop Games: We will focus on eight games. If your family owns any of them and you are willing to share them for the week, please label them before sending them into school. Weight-Lifting at GRCHS: We plan to depart to GRCHS a few minutes early, please be by the lobby between the two gyms by 1:05 pm. Please come ready to workout this includes changing into athletic clothes prior to leaving ACS, having other indoor shoes, and bringing a water bottle. Students may want to bring sweatpants to wear over shorts for the bus ride over.

Photography: Please come ready to take some cool pictures as we learn more about photography! Some time will be spent outside, so have warm outside clothes available. Also, if you have a point-and-shoot camera or DSLR camera, bring that along too!
