A Note From the Principal

Mr. Mittens Steals the Show!

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to share with some middle school students the “Wildcat of the Month Award.” In the middle of my talk, Mr. Mittens scampers up the post to the overhang outside the Woodshed building where we were gathered. There was nothing I could say to keep the attention of the group. Clearly, this picture shows that I couldn’t even keep my own attention on the task at hand!

However, after all the shenanigans that Mr. Mittens displayed, we were able to celebrate a student for the Christ-like attitude they brought to the class and to the school. What an honor to be able to give the award and for all of us to enjoy that moment!

This Week

Moms In Prayer

This week we’re praying for our education-support teachers.

God is the Potter —  The Creator who has authority over His creation; one who molds and shapes

Scripture: "LORD our Father, may we know that we are the clay, and You are the potter; we are the work of Your hand." - Isaiah 64:8

We’re a group of Moms (aunts/grandmas) passionate about lifting up our kids and ACS faculty and staff in prayer — we pray every Thursday, 8:00-9:00am, in the front office conference room. Join us if you can. If you have any questions, please contact Kelly, 616.304.2963.

Volunteer Opportunity - Recess Coverage During PT Conference Week

Parent Teacher Conferences are next week!  Our ACS teachers are busy planning and working hard to prepare for conferences.  In an effort to show our appreciation PTO is organizing volunteers to help with recess supervision on conference days.  This is where we need you!  Volunteers are needed to help cover snack and lunch recess time slots.  A recess signup link for both elementary and middle school coverage is below if you would like to help!

Conference Recess Coverage

Now You Know

Parent Teacher Conference Schedule

Review the conference schedule  for Oct 18 & 19.

Parents of students in 7th & 8th Grade will have the opportunity to visit with each of their student’s teachers in the North Gym. No sign up is necessary for 7th & 8th Grade.  Our 7th and 8th grade teachers conduct a “Round Robin” style of conference, with each conference lasting about 3-5 minutes. You will find each teacher at a table in the North Gym.

ACS Apparel Webstore - Ends Friday

You asked, we answered! We have opened up the ACS apparel webstore for more orders. This webstore will stay live until Friday, Oct 15. Order now to receive by Christmas!

Book Fair - Oct 13-19

The book fair is in full swing! The book fair will be open through next week, including Saturday morning during PurePlay.

If you are interested in checking out the online fair, here is the link.

Unicycle Club

UNICYCLE CLUB

The ACS Unicycle Club is for 1st-8th grade students who would like to learn how to ride a unicycle or progress to other unicycle skills.

We will meet from the end of the school day until 4:00pm for four consecutive Wednesdays starting on Oct 27.

We provide the unicycles, and you provide the rider. The club will be capped at 15 members. Although unicycles are provided, you may bring your own if you prefer.

The cost is $20. Use this link to sign-up online. If you are registering multiple children, please fill out an individual form for each one.

Members will be admitted on a first come, first served basis. Students who have not participated in any previous Unicycle Club will be given priority. If the club reaches capacity, a waiting list will be started. Questions? Contact:

Ski Punch Pass

Cannonsburg will be opening and you all can dust off your skis and boards!! Once again Cannonsburg is offering discounted punch pass cards for the season. The option to purchase online is encouraged and Cannonsburg will have them shipped to you!  You are welcome to use your punch cards any day that works for you. Grab your family and head there on a Saturday morning to avoid the crowds, drop your middle school kids there on a Friday night or meet up with a friend after school any day and stay until it closes! How do you do this?

1. Go to www.cannonsburg.com
2. Click on the turquoise "Store" tab at top of page
3. Choose the "Passes" option
4. Shop the punch cards that work for your family.
5. When checking out be sure to state Ada Christian School and Katie Kuiper as sponsor school and name.
6. When passes are ready you can pick up at Cannonsburg once they open or you may choose to have them mailed to your house!

You may still pay by cash or check by printing and filling out the form attached and sending it into the office with your child(ren). Label the envelope Ski Punch Card/Katie Kuiper.

Please call Katie Kuiper at 616.485.1888 or email her at you have any questions. Hit the Hill with us (because honestly, it's not a slope but we can have just as much fun!!)

Deadline is Tuesday, Nov 23.

Education Foundation Fall Fundraiser

THANK YOU to everyone that attended last week's ACS Education Foundation Annual Fundraiser. The event was a huge success and so much fun. Big thanks to our special guests, John Pomeroy and John Michael Hinton for the amazing performances and for a night we won't soon forget!

    Charleston Wrap Orders

Thanks for making our Charleston Wrap Fundraiser a huge success. We're busy calculating final totals and will announce prize winners early next week. Even though catalog sales and prize tallies ended this week, we can still get credit for online orders placed through Dec 03. Catalog orders should arrive in early November. Thanks for all your hard work!

    Christmas Shop

Mark your calendars! Our annual Christmas Shop is just around the corner and we need all hands on deck to make this fun event a success. Volunteer opportunities include shopping with students, cashiers, clean up, and straight donations of wrapping supplies. Check out the sign up below to fill a spot. Thanks in advance for your willingness to help!

    Direct Your Dollars

Do you shop at D&W, Forest Hills Foods, or Family Fare?  If so, please save your receipts! SpartanNash gives Ada Christian School a $1,000 check for each $150,000 in receipts collected. We just received our fifth check for $1,000. This makes $5,000 total!

The money earned through this program goes directly back to our students through the PTO. Ask your family and friends to save receipts too! Every little bit helps. Send your receipts to school with your child and they will be collected by their teacher.
