A Note From The Principal

There Is Something Fishy Going On At School!

Mrs. Quist and her 7th grade science students were not sure if taking newborn pictures of fish eggs was customary, but they had a photoshoot of the new babes anyway! They were pretty sure you would want to know that the eyelings are safely in their new home. What a fun Gotcha Day!

Stuff a Bus

Friday, Nov 20-24

Who: YOU! We are asking all ACS PK- 8th grade faculty, staff, and students to join us as we work to Stuff-A-Bus with food products!

It has been a tradition at Ada Christian each year to work with a local non profit and live out our mission of equipping our students for service in God’s world. ACS PK-8th grade students are asked to bring items for our food drive to support Degage Ministries, a local nonprofit that works with many who are homeless and low-income to provide shelter, food, hygiene resources, counseling, job search support, etc.

What: From Degage:

We currently have a number of patrons in housing isolation due to COVID and we suspect that number will only grow.  We’re tasked with getting food to those in isolation so we’d LOVE for your school to help us meet that need. We need as many pre-packaged, nonperishable, and microwavable items for breakfast, lunch, and dinners as possible. Some examples of what we would need are below:

  • Poptarts
  • Granola bars
  • Canned fruit
  • Cereal
  • Beef Jerky
  • Cans of soup
  • Microwavable Mac & Cheese
  • Prepackaged dinners that don’t need to be refrigerated or frozen (Hormel Brand type meals)
  • Lots of bottled water
  • Oatmeal
  • Cheese that doesn’t need to be refrigerated

Where: An ACS bus will be parked in front of ACS for 3 days. When students bring food items, they are asked to enter the bus, drop off the food, and exit the back of the bus on their way into school in the morning.

When:

7:45am - 3:15pm Fri, Nov 20
7:45am - 3:15pm Mon, Nov 23
7:45am - 9:00am Tues, Nov 24

Why: Each year ACS works to partner with community organizations to make positive differences in tangible ways. Our desire this year is to provide food products to support the following dining services offered at Degage.

Parking Lot & Loops - Safety Issue

We have been so pleased with the extra "pick-up space" we have been enjoying by opening our bus loop to parents. As with many changes, we can experience some growing pains that need to be addressed. In order to keep our bus loop open for drop-off and pick-up with the safety of families in mind, we need to respectfully ask that you partner with us in the following:

  • Students MUST exit the right side of vehicles.
  • Parents may not get out of cars while in the loops.
  • Drive SLOWLY when you are in the loops.

If the bus loop off Fox Hollow is full, drivers MUST use the parking lot to avoid:

  • blocking drivers trying to enter and exit parking areas
  • drivers being backed up on Fox Hollow waiting to enter school

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

A Note From The Board

Friends,

The school year is off to a rapid start and we already have our fall conferences under our belt with Thanksgiving only a few short days away. As a school we have much to be thankful for! Your school board has been busy and has embarked on a number of exciting goals. Standing committees of the Board consists of Education, Executive, Development, Finance, Long-Range Planning, Operations, and Promotions. Our committees have identified areas we’d like to focus on over the course of this school year. Some, but not all, of these goals include the following:

  • Work with the Principal Search Committee to hire a new Principal for the 2021-22 school year.
  • Review social, emotional, and wellbeing curriculum and programs to meet the increasing needs of our families.
  • Review and establish long term budgets for building and ground and tuition assistant needs.
  • Evaluate ongoing planned giving opportunities as well as ensuring alignment of our annual fundraising efforts with the needs of ACS.
  • Monitor and evaluate our marketing and promotions efforts to create best retention and recruitment strategies for the school.

Your school board is always interested in hearing from you. If you have feedback or ideas please share them. We feel blessed to partner with our teachers, administrators and staff in our mission of equipping students for service in God’s world.

It is hard to believe that the holidays are right around the corner. Among other things, this means that it is time to begin the nomination process for our 2021-2022 School Board Members.

Please submit your nominations by Dec 07, 2020. Thank you!

John Kuiper
ACS Board President

Dear Ada Christian School Committee,

As we look towards Thanksgiving and this season of gratitude, we are grateful to you, our Ada Christian School community, for your encouragement, support and prayers.

The Principal Search Committee is abundantly thankful for the many ways God has provided for us throughout this process. He has placed excellent candidates in our path, and in doing so, we are pleased to share with you that the committee will be conducting our first round of interviews in the coming week with 5 outstanding candidates.

Through your participation in the survey and interviews, the committee created our Principal Profile. This profile helped guide the committee as we narrowed down our candidates. This profile will continue to serve as our compass in this next phase of our search.

The committee has been working hard in preparation for these interviews and covet your continued prayers for wisdom and discernment in the coming weeks, as we seek a leader who possesses the essential qualities needed to guide Ada Christian School forward toward our mission of equipping students for service in God’s world.

With gratitude,
The Principal Search Committee

Advent at ACS

Gather Give & Grow - Thank You!

THANK YOU!

Last week, we asked friends and family of Ada Christian School to gather together to raise $200,000 for the school’s endowment fund, and you responded - in a really major way!

We’re thrilled that, thanks to you, we exceeded our goal! We are blown away by the generous outpouring of love and support for our students and school. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your faithful and continued support of Ada Christian School.

The website will remain live through the month of November if you haven’t had a chance to check out the Gather, Give & Grow page and would still like to make a donation. Enjoy!

Sincerely,
The ACS Education Foundation Board of Directors

Labeling Student Items

If you are dropping off items for your student please be sure to label all school items/packets with First Name, Last Name, and Homeroom so we can be sure to get everything where it needs to go. You may be surprised how many students and teachers share first names!

Book Fair Thank You

Thank you immensely for taking part in ACS’s recent online Follett Book
Fairs! We couldn’t have done it without you supporting them and shopping at them. Altogether,
our fairs sold almost 300 books and raised money for future library purchases! And, almost 100
books were purchased from our teachers’ wish lists, which means their classroom libraries just
got refreshed as well! Thanks, again. We appreciate you so much.
