Now You Know
Retirement Thank You
Thank you to all who came out on Thursday to celebrate our retirees. It was wonderful to see members of the ACS community and enjoy a time of fellowship.
There is still time to donate towards retirement gifts. Gifts will be presented to our retirees at the end of the school year.

FIRST LEGO League 2021
You’ll love FIRST® LEGO® League! The League members are 4th grade and up that research a real-world problem (like food safety, recycling, energy, etc.). The team will be challenged to develop a solution using new knowledge and creative imagination. The team will also design, build, and program a working robot using a LEGO MINDSTORMS® kit, then complete “missions” on a table-top playing field. Teams compete against each other at exciting events where members will make new friends, show off what they have learned and invented, express team spirit, and celebrate! Sound like fun? What are you waiting for? Apply to join the ACS FIRST® LEGO® League today!
Coaches: Ms. Frens, Mr. Jorgensen (veteran FLL coach and former ACS parent) and Mr. Schrotenboer
Applicants: Students in grades 4-8 (Minimum 8, and maximum 10 students on each team)
When: Two days/week (M and Th) from September-December (may also include weekend regional competition dates TBA). FIRST Lego League has attempted to be accommodating to other sports schedules, but FLL is on par with other competitive activities due to its potential for team recognition and scholarship opportunities.
Time: 3:15-5:00pm
Where: Ada Christian School Media Center / Computer Lab
Fee: $300 The fee includes FIRST® LEGO® League competition application fee, robotics / technology upgrades, t-shirts, snacks, supplies and coach stipend. ACS FIRST® LEGO® League: Please complete this survey by Monday, Aug 31. Cash App, PayPal and Venmo accepted for the $300 fee. Club limited to 10 participants per team. If more than 10, applicants are selected based on commitment and persistence. There is the possibility of 2 teams.

From the Library
Circulation of library books has come to an end. For the next two weeks, the library staff needs to check in all of the books and take inventory of the collection. Students may return books any day of the week, not just their library day. Please help us get all books returned. Thanks for your cooperation.
Shop With SCRIP

As a reminder, upon enrollment you will receive notifications from FACTS in three separate actions. (Please note this can take a few weeks).
1. Confirmation of the total commitment you have made (this will include tuition and any donations).
2. Confirmation of the enrollment fee you have paid.

Signups for Fall are open.
Salute to Coach Joel Brandt

For the last 11 years, Joel has been coaching PP soccer. He has coached 28 different teams in those years—sometimes even both a girls’ and a boys’ team in the same season. My first memory of him came 7 years ago on my first morning of Pureplay. He got out of his car and had a crazy wig on and a tye dyed coaching shirt from a previous season. That was so that his team could find him on the first day of the season. He has saved many of his PP t-shirts, and no doubt has fond memories of those past seasons. He says that the best part of coaching is watching the kids improve in their soccer skills and abilities. He loves the fact that our program focuses on the basics and participation for all. He has been a great communicator with the parents of his teams. I have had the privilege of receiving some of his silly emails—he even admitted they even crack him up sometimes. He also has fond memories of Sue Suwyn (the founder of Pureplay) and working with his own kids when they were just starting out with soccer.
I am so grateful for Joel, and the many other parents who coach in our program. We couldn’t do it without them.
Thanks, Joel. You will be missed on the sidelines on Saturday mornings. You’ve helped many ACS and GRCS students learn about soccer, teamwork, competition and life! Well done!!
