A Note From the Principal

One Hundred Blessings

When I walk down our PK-first grade wing there is a special buzz in the air. Do you know why? It’s because we are getting close to celebrating Day 100! That’s right. Day 100 is right around the corner and it has always been a big deal at ACS. This year, though, it seems super special, and it is one of the many things I realize I have taken for granted in the past. Each day with your kids is a blessing!

Exciting Board Business

We are pleased to share with you that at our January Board of Trustees meeting, two proposals were approved that the Long Range Planning Committee has been working on in line with the 5-year school improvement plan.

Social Worker

We surveyed teachers, parents, and experts in the field regarding best practices and ways to meet social/emotional needs of students, and the message was clear -- many see the importance of and need for ACS to have a school social worker.

Our Board approved a recommendation co-sponsored by our Long Range Planning and Education Committees for ACS to hire a 50% Social Worker beginning in the 2021-2022 school year as part of our school’s commitment to enhance student well-being and develop greater emotional intelligence through direct practice, community engagement, consultation and advocacy. By implementing the role of  social worker, we believe students will improve their academic achievement and build stronger social, emotional, and behavioral competency within our community.

We hope to post this position within the next couple of weeks. Please pray that God will help us fill this spot with the “just right fit”!

Summer Covenant Care Program

Many of you responded with strong interest in ACS hosting a summer Covenant Care Program. Our Board agreed and approved the recommendation brought to them by our Long Range Planning Committee. Beginning this June we will offer Covenant Care for Ada Christian School families for 4’s preschool through 5th grade. By offering this program we believe ACS can continue to meet the needs of our families and help us to use our campus more fully year-round.

Following are some details. We will send registration information soon.

Snow, Parking Lot & Kid Danger

Students can and have slipped and tumbled into the parking and driving areas while climbing on the snow piles on our sidewalks and parking lot. Please help us keep our kids safe by helping us enforce the "Feet on the cleared areas of the sidewalks and parking areas, please." rule.

Thank you!

Kindergarten Intentions

If you intend to send your child to kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year, please call the office at 616-676-1289 or email Sharon DeJong () We need your child’s first, middle and last name, address, email address, parent's name, phone number as well as your child’s  birthdate for the list we are building.

We would also like to know if you prefer 5-day or Progressive Kindergarten. Parent preferences vary from year to year. To help us plan for staffing needs, we will cap the list for each option at 22 and then begin to build our 3rd class list. There is a chance that those on the 3rd list may be asked to alter their preference.

For families enrolling their oldest child in kindergarten, another part of the enrollment process is a meeting with Melissa Brower, our principal. This meeting may happen any time before enrollment. If you would like to schedule that meeting, please contact Mark Stuit at 616-676-1289 or

Now You Know

Thank You

We would like to take the opportunity to say thank you for the many phone calls, emails, cards, notes of encouragement, meals, and other ways of showing us how much we are loved. Our lives have been changed in many ways, but we also know that our Father has us in His hands. We are very thankful that Scott is now home and that we are back together as a family, and we have been so blessed by all of your words and your prayers. So we thank you again for your kindness, and Scott looks forward to the day where he can see many of your faces back at school!

Feb Hot Lunch Menu

Please review the February Hot Lunch Menu with your student(s). Remember, lunch is free for the remainder of the school year, no need to sign up.

Art Box

These days of restriction have been hard on all of us, but especially our older population who are most at risk.  A woman in the Ada Community has begun The Art Box Project where schools can collect children’s art to share with our elderly.  The pieces will be gathered up at the end of each month, attached to an encouraging note and delivered to the GR Home for Veterans. The volunteer coordinator shared that this art brings many smiles and much happiness to the 160 residents. Our art box is located in the foyer of the school. Please consider sharing this project with your children. Their creativity will bring needed cheer to these individuals who have served our country so well.

GRASP Summer Program

Forms can be downloaded or can be picked up in the ACS office. GRASP is an optional summer correspondence education program for grades K through 8, which helps students maintain reading and math skills while they are on summer vacation. Forms are due Feb 12.
