Drop Off Safety Reminder
Just a quick reminder to have your kiddos ready to get out of the car passenger side only. If you need to help them bring something into school please park in the lot. Please pull as far ahead as you can. Also this is a one lane drive, please have patience to wait for the car ahead of you to move before going around them...there have been to many close calls lately with all the snow.
Calvin Spring Classic
This winter has been challenging, but Spring is coming! Start training now to walk, jog or run the Calvin 5K Spring Classic at Calvin College on April 27 at 8:30am. Parent Teacher Conference Thank You
We finished up our final Parent Teacher Conferences for the school year! Thank you to each of you who jumped in to cover recess duty to give the teachers extra time to prepare for conferences, or even just for a nice little break on a long day. Your investment of time matters, it makes a difference, thank you.
The first conference night this year landed on Valentine's Day, and just as we imagined it would, it sparked even more creativity in Kim Laufer as she prepared a warm, homemade meal for the teachers and staff. Perfect for a cold, blustery day, she made the best lasagna ever, along with big fresh salads and soft garlic bread. She decorated the room with love, or, to be exact, with boatloads of fun heart-shaped balloons and pretty pink table cloths. For dessert, the classics - chocolate covered strawberries and brownie cupcakes piled high with peanut butter frosting. Of course, she made enough for an army and there was plenty to freeze for the staff to enjoy during their in-service day, an extra blessing. She worked right up to the finish line, on Thursday night when most of us were getting ready to enjoy our Winter Break, she was bringing in tortilla soup surrounded by all the sides. We are so grateful for Kim, and for her heart to bless the teachers and staff that we all love so much.
Open PTO Position
Well, our dearly beloved Secretary, Karen Naude (who was amazing) has moved back to her Florida home. (Do any of us blame her? Decidedly not.) We miss her laugh and bright sunny spirit terribly and wish her the absolute best as she resumes her beautiful life down there. However, that leaves us with a little opportunity on our hands. If you've considered getting involved in the Parent Teacher Organization, this is the perfect way to begin. Little responsibility and lots of fun.
1. Attend monthly PTO meetings and take notes.
2. Type them up into minutes.
3. Write and mail thank you cards to our hard-working volunteer event chairs (a handful a month).
4. Jump in to help as needed throughout the year on various events as your schedule permits.
Your pay: $0 (unless you're including benefits, vacation time, sick days etc, in which case....well...it's actually still $0)
We pride ourselves in transparency.
Want to check it out? Come to our next meeting! We promise we won't make you take notes on your first visit.
Please contact Holly Karasinski, PTO President at email@example.com or 616.901.8882.
