A Note From The Principal
Stature
I was unable to include a picture with this one because I didn’t get permission from the construction worker that dwarfed me the other day. As I approached him, I said, “You got me beat.” He beamed a smile and I guessed his height to be 6’10”. To my surprise he said, “Nope, 7’1”! Naturally, one of our staff members had to snap a picture and mention how Tall Sall was not so tall.
That moment made me think about how uniquely we are all made and how no matter what our stature is, we are made in God’s likeness. How is this possible when we are so different? The Bible reminds us that God looks at the heart of a person, not the outside of a person. I wonder if we all could approach each other with that mindset? If we strive to see the heart of a person, would we be more likely to see God in them?
When our teachers talk about the Good/Broken/Better terminology associated with Creation/Fall/Redemption, their goal is for students not to focus on the broken, but rather to recognize the good and focus on the better. Mistakes are made, but what is our role in making things better? What can we do to repair a relationship? I have shared with students that change comes from within, a change of heart, a recommitment to Jesus’ love.
This is a daily recognition that striving for the stature of Jesus is the ultimate goal.

Board Books Needed
Family Assistance is a local ministry program run by Calvin CRC. Family Assistance provides clothing and personal care items for individuals and families referred by social services agencies, schools, and community organizations. This ministry is supported by our 2nd graders every December when we collect new and gently used coats and other winter gear. Family Assistance likes to add a board book to each donation that is heading to a young child. They currently find themselves in need of board books. If you have any around your home you are no longer using please send them to school. They may be placed in the box in the entryway. Thank you for supporting this valuable ministry!
