A Note From The Principal

Blanketed in Love, Assurance of Hope

This picture was taken just outside my office window on November 30, 2021. The snow on the branches triggered a peace and a calm that I cannot explain. It typically reminds me of the love of Christ and the assurance of His omniscient presence - a sense of peace/hope.

The next couple of paragraphs come from one of our faculty members that writes devotionals for some volunteers for a different group she meets with.

“Immanuel has got to be one of the most comforting of all the names of Jesus.  Immanuel, God with us. Our sins made it too impossible for us to come to God so out of His extreme love, He came to us in human form. Immanuel, God with us.

This Advent season may we take comfort in the fact that we truly are never alone.  No matter the challenge, no matter the obstacle, we are never alone. Whatever we need, God is with us. He offers strength, hope, joy, mercy, deliverance. Even when the world around us seems dark or when we can’t see Him, just reach out and know He is there. He will never leave us or forsake us. He is Immanuel, God with us.”

I couldn’t write this any better, so I asked her for the use of her words!

Blessings to you all in this advent season as we look forward to the promise of Jesus’ birth this Christmas! What a Gift!

Moms In Prayer

This week we’re praying for our 7th grade teachers and students.

Jesus the Resurrection — Risen from death; giving us new life; a living hope; an imperishable inheritance

Scripture: God, may we know that our old sinful self was crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our life; that we're no longer a slave to sin; that You gave us life when You raised Christ from the dead. From Romans 6:6 and Ephesians 2:5b (NLT)

We’re a group of Moms passionate about lifting up our kids and ACS faculty and staff in prayer — we pray every Thursday, 8-9am, in the front office conference room. Siblings always welcome. If you have any questions, give me a call (Kelly Stafford, 616.304.2963

Action Needed

Report Cards

Report cards will be coming home today. Please sign and return your child’s envelope/slip of paper and return it to their homeroom teacher.

Students in K-4 grades will come home with a printed report card.

Parents of students in 5th - 8th grade will receive an email with a digital copy of the report card. 5th - 8th grade parents can also log into their Powerschool parent portal and click on “Student Reports” in the left navigation to view the report card.

Report cards come home on Wed, Dec 01. Please sign your child's envelope/slip of paper and return to school.

Parking Lot Safety

Please remind children to exit from the passenger side of the vehicle only (curbside) and not into oncoming traffic in the car loops. Especially with snow and ice this is very important for the safety of our students.

Annual Fund

This year we have an Annual Fund goal of $335,000. Good news, through tuition gifts and other gifts we have already raised $244,000. What does the Annual Fund do? The annual fund directly supports our tuition assistance program as well as supplies the extra resources needed for ACS to deliver an education tailored to our students' unique needs and learning styles. The Annual Fund makes an immediate impact on our school. If you have given to the Annual Fund in the past, thank you. We hope you will continue your tradition of giving again this Christmas season. If you're considering giving for the first time, please know what a huge difference your gift will make for our kids here at ACS.

Questions, please feel free to contact Mark Stuit, Director of Advancement.

Christmas Gifts for Specials Teachers

We are blessed to have many amazing "specials" teachers at ACS. They allow our kids to enjoy music, art, OE, library, PE, technology, Spanish, orchestra, and band. If you'd like to contribute toward a Christmas gift for our "specials" teachers, there will be a large yellow envelope in the office from December 1st-10th to receive donations. There is no need to specify any one teacher. The Christmas elves will make sure every teacher is taken care of.

Staff Favorites

Good News! You can now access staff favorites from the ACS website under the family dashboard. This is a great place to find favorite restaurants, stores, hobbies, or classroom wish list items for any of our staff.
