Leah VanDerLaan

I recently graduated from Cornerstone University with a B.A. in Language Arts Elementary Education. I have also been serving for the past four years as a Middle School youth leader for Hillcrest CRC. It has been such a joy during my educational career to foster Christ-like relationships with a variety of students.

Philippians 4:4-7 can be described as my life verse, as I have come to know this peace “that surpasses understanding” and the guidance along unknown paths with my Shepherd beside me. The people who support me in my faith journey are my family, the most important figures in my life. We are a tight-knit group who place priority on enjoying time together. If my free time is not spent with one of my family members, you can most likely find me at the beach, reading, or walking in a nature park, weather permitting.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:4-7
