A Note From The Principal

Reformation Day

At this time of year when many are celebrating Halloween, Ada Christian School focuses on a protestant religious day known as Reformation Day as we remember the onset of the Reformation.

Our own wonderful Mr. Hoo (also known as Martin Luther one day each year) tells his Reformation story. Enjoy!

This four minute video also shares about the Reformation.

Because we do not celebrate Halloween at ACS, we ask that students do not wear Halloween costumes to school.

Teacher Fun

Our ACS faculty members enjoyed time learning together over Professional Development Days last week. In addition to covering important topics, we fit in some competitive fun. We had three nice teacher chairs to give away and eight teachers who wanted them. Their job was to create a brief campaign to influence their peer voters in choosing them as chair recipients. Some campaigned in person and a couple teachers took advantage of sharing through video.

Congratulations to Mrs. Lemkuil, Mr. Sportel, and Mrs. Osborn for your victories. Enjoy your new chairs.

A Loss

A dear former ACS mom, Sheri Vander Lugt, recently lost her battle to ALS. For those of us that had the joy of knowing her, we will remember her warm smile, willingness to help, and joy she shared with everyone around her.  Please join us in keeping her family in your prayers during this time of great loss.

A Family In Need

Jeff Visser, father to 6th grade student Maylee, was diagnosed with Mantel cell lymphoma this past Memorial Day. At this time Jeff is undergoing challenging treatments and has been unable to work since April. One of the ways we can help at this time is by signing up to bring a meal. Please also join us as we lift up Jeff and his family in prayer.

This Week

Moms In Prayer

This week we’re praying for our 4th graders and their teachers.

Attribute:  God is Good — Definition:  One who is virtuous, excellent, and upright

LORD, You are good, and what You do is good; teach me your decrees. - Psalm 119:68

We’re a group of Moms (aunts/grandmas) passionate about lifting up our kids and ACS faculty and staff in prayer. We meet every Thursday morning 8:00-9:00am. Younger siblings are always welcome! This week we’re meeting at my house (Kelly Stafford, 2595 Lansdowne, NE, Ada, near the corner of Knapp & Pettis — two-story red brick, 2nd house on the left).  Come join us for the journey when you can.

MENistry

Come join other ACS dads at 8:00am on Friday mornings at Nona's Trattoria on the back deck. We are reading The Man in the Mirror.

Now You Know

Gather Give Grow

You might be wondering... isn't the Foundation Dinner coming up soon? Just like everything in our lives right now, we have had to be creative to shake things up.

The annual fall fundraiser is the Education Foundation's signature fundraising event which provides essential support to Ada Christian School. In lieu of our traditional dinner, we invite you to gather online during the week of November 9-13 for a special week of giving and growing. We will feature special messages from Matt Scogin, President of Hope College and WOOD TV8's Maranda, as well as some other familiar faces! Help us raise money for the Ada Christian Education Foundation endowment fund. Stay tuned for more details.

ACS Book Fair

The ACS Book Fairs are next week. Please watch this video for more information.

ACS Gear is Here

Today is the last day to order ACS spirit wear. Check out the online store and order some gear!

Ski Punch Passes

Cannonsburg will be opening and you all can dust off your skis and boards!! Once again Cannonsburg is offering discounted punch pass cards for the season. New this year will be the option to purchase online and have them shipped to you!  You are welcome to use your punch cards any day that works for you. Grab your family and head there on a Saturday morning to avoid the crowds, meet up with a friend after school any day and stay until it closes! How do you do this?

1. Go to www.cannonsburg.com
2. Click on "Store" tab
3. Choose the "Passes" option
4. Shop the punch cards that work for your family.
5. When checking out be sure to state Ada Christian School and Katie Kuiper as sponsor school and name.
6. When passes are ready you can pick up at Cannonsburg once they open or you may choose to have them mailed to your house!

You may still pay by cash or check by printing and filling out the form attached and sending it into the office with your child(ren). Label the envelope Ski Punch Card/Katie Kuiper.

Please call Katie Kuiper at 616.485.1888 or email her at you have any questions. Hit the Hill with us (because honestly, it's not a slope but we can have just as much fun!)
