Looking Ah

A Note From The Principal

Ash Wednesday

What is Ash Wednesday? This is what I found on the internet:

Ash Wednesday – officially known as the Day of Ashes – is a day of repentance, when Christians confess their sins and profess their devotion to God.

It seems like some people observe this very literally, some sort of observe it, and others are excited about Good Friday and Easter coming but don’t really observe it. No matter where you land on this, know that Ash Wednesday marks the first day of the 40 days counting down to Easter.

If you choose to give something up for these days leading up to Easter, just make sure it is something that will help you focus on Jesus and cause you to pause daily in order to profess your devotion to God.

Just outside our middle school wing, there is a massive sign that states, “Every Square Inch.” This saying is from Abraham Kuyper. His actual quote is below and is a great reminder for us in how we are to devote our lives to God:

“There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry, Mine!”

Pick-Up Procedures - Important

We recognize that our parking lot is a busy place in the afternoon and we all have places to be and people to see. We have a few important reminders to ensure that our parking lot remains a safe environment for the Ada Christian community.

We ask that you adhere to the following:

  • Please do not block Fox Hollow Drive entrance.
  • Please do not line up on Fox Hollow Drive.
  • Please do not park on the access road to the back of school.
  • Students MAY NOT cross traffic to load up your vehicle.
  • When using the loops, cars must remain in one single file lane and must keep moving. Please do not leave space between you and the car in front of you.
  • As the loops begin to fill, cars must find a spot in the parking lot area to wait their turn to get back in the loop.

Thank you for keeping everyone safe!

Moms In Prayer

This week we’re praying for our  8th graders and their teachers.

God is our Strength —   One who has firmness of will, character, mind, or purpose; power to resist force

"Lord, may we be strong in You and in Your mighty power. May we put on the full armor of God, so that we can take our stand against the devil’s schemes." - Ephesians 6:10-11

We’re a group of Moms passionate about lifting up our kids and ACS faculty and staff in prayer — we pray every Thursday, 8:00-9:00am, in the front office. If you have any questions, give me a call (Kelly, 616.304.2963)

Now You Know

March is Reading Month

Be sure to talk to your children about what’s going on this month. It’s a ton of fun when the month of March comes along! Here are some dates to know.

March 11 – Read My Shirt Day

Everyone is encouraged to wear a shirt with an appropriate saying or logo. The younger grades may want to wear a shirt with an image that can be “read.”

March 18 – Books & Blankets

Look for more information from your teachers about this one. Each grade level will be participating differently.

March 21 – World Down Syndrome Day

Students and staff are encouraged to wear mismatched socks. Different socks represent everyone’s differences and our differences are what makes us great!

Spring Book Fair

As part of March is Reading Month we are also hosting a Spring Book Fair. The dates of the fair are Thur, Mar 24 – Wed, Mar 30. The fair will be open each morning at 7:45 am and stay open all day until 3:15 pm. On Wed, Mar 30, the Book Fair closes at noon. Stop in to grab some good reads for Spring Break!

Belated Thank You

Take a minute to watch this ACS Olympic video as an official thank you to all who helped make the games possible.

March Hot Lunch Menu

Please note that Hot Lunch this Friday's lunch will be Alfredo pasta with steamed veggies and garlic knots.

The March Menu is now available. Please review this with your children to plan which days they would like lunch.

Michigan Art Education Association Finalist

Several Ada Christian students have artwork on display in the MAEA 2020 Region Nine Virtual Exhibition. These projects will be judged and placed on display at the Gifts of Art Gallery – Taubman Health Center in Ann Arbor, MI.

Grand Friend's Day - May 06

Please have your Grand Friend's save the date for May 06. We will be sending home personalized invitations in the new couple of weeks.

Fire-Rescue Apparel Fundraiser Benefiting Riding for Ryan

Now through March 16, the Cascade Firefighter Association is holding a Fire-Rescue apparel fundraiser.   Proceeds from the sale will benefit Riding for Ryan, a local non-profit organization founded in memory of Ryan Marsman, an Ada Christian Kindergarten student who passed away in 2019. The non-profit provides free bicycle safety flags for kids to attach to their bike so they are more visible while riding.

Apparel can be purchased online at www.ridingforryan.org. Shipping is free and all orders will ship the first week in April. We hope you will consider supporting this great cause!
