Chicken Eggs

Chicken Egg
What comes first the chicken or the egg? At ACS it was the chicken and now we have eggs too! Our ladies are now happily producing.

Welcome Our New Families

Two new families started this week at ACS. Craig and Betsy Rybarczyk and their son Graham (2B). Also Sami and Laura Brake and their daughter Sophia (KP). We are excited to have them join ACS as our family continues to grow.

This Week

"Faith. Strong." Friday

Theme 17-18
It's that time again. All students, staff and parents are encouraged to wear their ACS gear to school this week Friday, Jan 12.

Moms In Prayer

Join us for a sweet time of New Year’s Fellowship this coming Thursday, Jan 11. Some groups have a Christmas fellowship time, we mix it up by having a New Year’s Fellowship time to reflect on the past year and look forward to the brand new year, and also to welcome you!

Every week, we concentrate on our constant and desperate need for more of his presence in our lives and those for whom we pray rather than for a “fix” for our circumstances. We’ll plead for more of his presence through the circumstances into which he’s placed us, and we’ll "forget not all his benefits.” (Psalm 103:1-2). Oh, and one more thing, you do not have to pray out loud, join in silent prayer if you’re more comfortable. God hears us all (Psalm 34:15).

If you can join us for prayer, we meet every Thursday morning 8:00-9:00am, in the ACS office back conference room. Younger siblings are always welcome! Need more information? Contact Kelly Stafford (616.304.2963, ).

MENistry

Come join other dads in room 504 on Fridays as we explore our call to be faithful men of Christ. We will be dwelling with the Word in the Book of Luke this semester. Coffee and donuts provided. All ACS dads welcome!

Red Wings For Reading

If you are a Red Wings fan and want to encourage reading in your home, check out the reading program Red Wings for Reading. When your child reads three books recommended for their grade level, they can submit an online entry form. Every student who participates will receive a Red Wings for Reading Fan Pack and will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of Detroit Red Wings tickets to the Mar 31 game. The program ends Jan 31 and is open to Kindergarten-5th grade students.

Lost And Found

The lost and found table is located by the music room/kitchen. This Friday, Jan 12 the tables will be brought to the front of the school and items laid out. At the end of that day, the items that were not picked up will be boxed up. Please continue to check the lost and found by the music room throughout the month. Hopefully this will help with having an overload of lost items.

Helpful Information From CSI

CSI Logo
On Dec 22, the US Congress passed the Tax Cut and Jobs Act. Beginning in 2018, changes to the law will now allow tax-advantaged college savings plans, known as 529s, to also cover up to $10,000 a year in K–12 public, private, and religious school expenses. These savings plans allow families to invest their after-tax money and, through compound interest, accrue earnings rapidly over time. Families pay no taxes on those interest earnings.

Additional features included in the Tax Cut and Job Act:

  • Section 117(d): Tax-free tuition reductions for the children of teachers and other employees in our schools remain intact.
  • Section 127(a): Tax-free benefits of up to $5,250 annually for educational assistance to employees are retained.
  • Teacher tax deduction: Educators can still take the $250 deduction for expenses for classroom materials or professional development.
