Prayers Needed for ACS Faculty

Mrs. Lindsey Bosma, our Spanish teacher, is facing a challenging health situation. She has shared her news in the following note.  

Dear ACS Community, 

This summer I was diagnosed with cancer.  It has been an up and down journey the past two months.  Here are a few things I would like to share with you:  The cancer was caught early and has been successfully removed but I will be receiving treatments (including chemotherapy) to make sure it does not come back.  With these treatments my prognosis is good. Due to the pandemic and the chemotherapy making me immunocompromised, I will not be able to work at school and my children are not able to be at school for about 6 months. We hope to return in February. 

The above information may be shared with your student in the way that you feel is best and age appropriate.  I do not want students to be upset or frightened.  This really is a good and hopeful diagnosis.  I hope that you will be able to share with them that God is with me, that he has provided doctors and medicine that will help heal me and that I will be able to see them again in a few months.  Let them know that God has a plan for all of us, and promises to be with us always. He loves us! Tell them I miss them!

Our family would very much appreciate your prayers.  We will miss seeing you face to face this fall, but look forward to being with you in person as soon as possible!

Angela VanDuyn, our 5th-8th Athletic Director, needs to take a step back from her responsibilities at ACS temporarily to help take care of her husband, Joel, and their four young children. Joel was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer when a mass was recently found in his stomach. Joel is scheduled for surgery to remove the tumor on Friday, Aug 07. 

There are three ways in which your help would be appreciated:

2. Frozen meals. These can be dropped off at school Mon-Thur from 8:00am-12:00pm until Thursday, Aug 20 for the first meal pick-up.

Action Needed

Important K-8 Student Information Forms

Several student information forms for students in Kindergarten - 8th Grade are ready for you to complete (emergency authorization, media consent, learning selection, etc). These forms must be completed by Fri, Aug 07. 

To complete the forms:

• Log into your PowerSchool parent portal.
• Select Forms
• Beginning with Demographic Update, complete each of the Student Information Forms.
• Please note that some forms need to be filled out for each child while others may be submitted for the whole family.

*Preschool student information forms will be available on PowerSchool in a couple weeks.
