After receiving my B.A. in education from Calvin College, I spent 3 years teaching in a small Christian school in Wisconsin before heading to the University of Michigan to earn my Masters of Information Science in Library and Information Services.  Next, I worked as library media specialist and technology coordinator at Millbrook Christian School.  In 2001 I became the library media specialist at Ada Christian, and also serve as the STEP (Student Talent Enrichment Program) coordinator.

Personal Biography:

I grew up with two sisters in Fremont, Michigan, and now live with two cats in Grand Rapids.   I am a member of Church of the Servant Christian Reformed Church, where I am involved in music ministries and have also helped out with ESL, Girls’ Club, and various other areas of service.

Faith Statement:

As a library media specialist, my role at Ada Christian is a unique and exciting one.  All of creation belong to God, and I encourage students to begin exploring it by providing them the best print and online resources I can find.  I help students become independent life-long learners by teaching them to confidently locate, thoughtfully evaluate, and appropriately use information, skills that become ever more crucial as the Internet continues to expand.  I use a variety of fiction and nonfiction reading materials, as well as incentive programs, to entice them to become stronger readers.  Together, these goals help to equip students for service in God’s world.
