Professional Biography:

I graduated from Calvin College in 2002 with a degree in secondary education. While at Calvin I spent a semester in Israel studying how the land of the Bible connects to the meaning of the text. This experience was a result of a growing love for Christ and a desire to want to understand the Bible in its original context. From 2002-2005 I taught middle school science at Eagle Crest Charter Academy in Holland Michigan to seventh and eighth grade students. From 2005-2009, I taught eighth grade Bible and Science at Kalamazoo Christian Middle school. I have twenty hours of classes at the master’s level and am a member of the National Science Teachers association and the National Middle School Association.

Personal Biography:

I am happily married to a wonderful husband. We have one daughter who was born in April of 2009. We live in Grand Rapids and enjoy spending time with family, traveling, gardening, reading and walking. We attend a local Christian Reformed Church where I am on the nursery committee and involved with the community garden.

Faith Statement:

I believe that my mission is to love, teach and affirm every one of my students using the lens of scripture. I desire to excite students about the Bible and to help them learn to use it as a tool for life. During their time at Ada Christian School, I pray that my students will grow in their faith and in their relationship with Jesus Christ. It is my desire to be used by God as a positive spiritual mentor to students so that they may “Grow in the grace and knowledge of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” each day.
