Student Council

Every year, 2 middle school students are elected from each homeroom by their classmates for service on Student Council. Students are coached during the year in what it means to be a leader by serving others.

Student council members are “go to” people for teachers and students alike. They help as needed on the yearly middle school retreat and spring picnic; they run the school store; they organize monthly pizza lunches, a digital newspaper, Secret Santa, student appreciation day, spirit week, and the talent show. They also strive to serve our community through various fundraisers. This year, they are collecting pop can tabs to benefit the local Ronald McDonald House. They have also raised money for Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

Funds raised by the store have purchased things for school, such as playground balls, a tether ball set, an outdoor volleyball court and a Joe-Ball court.

Student Council meetings are held on Tuesdays during lunch. They report back to their homerooms on Wednesday mornings. Because of student council’s involvement, the middle school experience is enhanced with many activities of fun and service.
