Our practices are scheduled for every Tuesday we have school from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm for the dates December 15 through March 23. The time will be divided into two 1 hour sessions which meet every other week. Session 1 will begin at 6:30 and session 2 will begin at 7:30. On alternating weeks sessions 3 and 4 will take place. This enables each event to be practiced every other week. Every student will be assigned an event in each one of these four sessions. (The events have been grouped into sessions so they will conflict as little as possible with the tentative event schedule received from GVSU and to allow students to prepare for just those events they feel strong in--Life Science, Earth Science, etc. if they so desire.) If you would like to coach an event, but the time schedule does not work for you, you could set up your own practice schedule with the students in that particular event.
If we are successful enough at the regional competition to go on to state, we will then practice in the month of April up through the week of the state competition at MSU (May 1, 2010).
Science Olympiad is a tremendous learning experience for the students. We look forward to working with you and in sharing with you the students’ excitement on another successful Science Olympiad!
