I am married to Jim Vanden Bosch, an English professor at Calvin College. We have three children: Franklin, Anjean, and Christina. Franklin is married to Mindi Andringa, and they live in Pella, Iowa, with their children Madi and Will. Anjean is an English teacher at Contra Costa Christian High School, in Walnut Creek, California. Christina is married to Jonathan der Nederlanden, and they live in Grand Rapids. I am proud to say that all of our children as well as their spouses are graduates of Calvin College. I attend Calvin Christian Reformed Church, in Grand Rapids, where I have been the children’s choir director for over twenty years.
I started singing in my church choir at the age of eight, and since that time I have always been a member of a choir. I love singing, and I work hard to develop a love of music in all of my students. It is a joy for me to hear children’s voices praising God and singing their faith. In all my newsletters to parents I quote Helen Kemp, a master children’s choir director, teacher, and composer: “Body, mind, spirit, voice: it takes the whole person to sing and rejoice!” That is what Christian education is all about, and music is a wonderful part of how we praise our God!
