Joyce Meyers
4th Grade
Professional Biography:

I grew up in the Holland area and graduated from Holland Christian High School.  My BA degree is from Calvin College with majors in Education and English, and I did my graduate work in Education at the University of Michigan.  Early in my teaching career, I taught lower elementary grades in the eastern part of the state.  Then at Ada Christian, I have enjoyed a variety of teaching experiences, including several years as a sixth grade teacher of World History and Language Arts.  I’ve also taught in fifth grade at ACS, and now I’m part of the fourth grade team and especially enjoy teaching United States Social Studies to all the fourth grade students.

Personal Biography:

I have been blessed by growing up in a Christian family.  I’m the oldest of four siblings, two brother and two sisters, all of whom have also gone on to careers in Christian education.  My two daughters are Amy and Mia, and they are also graduates of Calvin College.  Both of them are married and live in Western Michigan.  I enjoy traveling in the United Sates and other countries, doing a little photography, seeing great art work, and reading of all kinds.

Faith Statement:

I believe that every child is unique and is a special blessing from God, and I know that He has an amazing plan and purpose for each one of them.  I appreciate teaching at Ada Christian School because we are committed to sharing the gift of God’s love as we interact with students and as we learn in our various curriculum areas.  It’s a joy to see students grow in their love for the Lord and in their development of the abilities God has given them.   The opportunity to integrate my own faith into our classroom activities is a privilege, an opportunity, and an awesome challenge.  Here’s a special verse that I like to share in my classroom:  “…those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.   They will soar on wings like eagles…”  (Isaiah 40:31)
